About
Online threats are constantly evolving, becoming more effective and harder to detect. The same way that new tech is debuted every year, new attacks are developed to cause harm for various reasons. While the average phone, computer, or internet user isn’t at much risk of falling victim to the cutting edge of cybercrime, there are still common attacks that can end up being very harmful to regular people online. The good news is that basic network safety measures go a long way, and after you’ve learned a little bit about how attackers approach crime online, you can quite effectively protect yourself from it altogether.
People are sometimes intimidated by the idea of online security, making it out to be much more complex than it really is. At least part of this sentiment comes from movies. Using the “hacker” archetype to show a hooded figure punching commands into a computer and magically accomplishing their goal keeps things behind the veil. This website is here to pull back that veil and show you that a lot of this stuff is logical, fun, and applicable in more cases than I could have imagined when I began in cybersecurity.
During the final year of my Bachelor of Science at Utah State University, I’m working on my senior project, which is this website. I wanted to compile the best knowledge I’ve gained over the last four years studying cybersecurity and present it in a way that people can enjoy. The info in this site is fact-checked, verified, and organized in a way that I hope compels you to keep learning. These sections will give you the best guidance available to protect your devices and data, and keep you in the loop on what’s new in cybersecurity.
